Tulip Arranging Competition

In partnership with Bloms Bulbs, The Parish Events Committee are running a tulip competition which will run alongside the RHS Virtual Chelsea Show this week.

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2020 has been cancelled due to COVID-19. Bloms are Gold Medal winners at Chelsea and normally show each year. All their prize winning cut tulips were ready for showing when it was cancelled. They have been donating a bucket each week to the Village, and these are distributed on a Sunday to vulnerable households who are in isolation.

On VE Day, they sold 15 buckets around the Village in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital. It was a lovely focal event for the Village and very popular, raising over £1,000.

They have a few buckets of tulips left and these will be available to purchase in aid of the same charity from 09:00 on Monday 18th May 2020. Residents can give whatever they feel is appropriate for these prize winning bunches, and are then asked to do a creative arrangement of them for the competition.

Tulips will be available from:

• Scaraben, Water Lane, Chelveston (opposite the bottom of Hillside)
• Melrose Cottage, Caldecott
• 24 The Crescent, Chelston Rise

Residents should send photographs of their arrangements via WhatsApp to Adrian Dale (07850 570007) or Email (coordinator@covid-19.chelveston.org.uk) by 09:00am on Wednesday 20th May 2020.

All entries will be published on the web and Chris Blom will judge them during Wednesday. Winners will be announced on Thursday 21st May 2020.
