Daily Newsletter - Tuesday 5th May 2020
Editorial:
The Government has announced a 3 day delay in the announcement of their lockdown exit plan. The reason given is the need to analyse statistical modelling on the differences in infection rates across the regions. However, promising weather towards the end of the week may also be prompting people to anticipate bank holiday BBQs and trips to the coast on Friday. The Government is very keen to avoid this.
The Parish Council Entertainments Committee has launched its VE Day colouring competition. Entries must be complete by 09:00 on VE Day (Friday 8th May) Entries should be photographed and sent to Adrian Dale by email or message. The pictures should then be stuck in the front windows of every house entering to bring a festive feel to the Village. This competition is for adults too, so have some fun!

Birthdays:
None that we know of!
Nationally:
288 deaths were reported by the Government yesterday using their new measures taking us to 28,734 across the UK. The number of new lab confirmed cases was down to 3,985. These were welcome figures as we were expecting a post-weekend bounce from poor reporting. However, the trends are clearly downward. There are still hotspots around the country where infection levels are high but the situation is clearly improving. The Nightingale hospitals will shortly be going into standby mode.
Locally:
In Northamptonshire the figures continue to be corrected daily but there is evidence of numbers reducing. Northampton town itself is still a hotspot according to the Covid-19 symptom tracker, as is Peterborough. So it would be best to steer clear of these towns.
